5 Ways to Become a Digital Nomad

If you don’t know what a digital nomad is, where have you been for the last few years? Known simply as DNs, this is a group of people that work online, which means they have the freedom to live anywhere in the world, as long as they have a stable Internet connection.

Here are a few ways that you can join the ranks of a growing number of digital nomads.

  1. E-commerce – Many Aussies make their living selling goods online, which is a minimum investment business that allows those with no real capital to set up their own business. You need to carry out extensive market research before you consider writing a business plan. Products should be in demand and eco-friendly where possible. Digital marketing is a must if you want to spread the word.
  2. Crypto & share trading – Real-time share trading comes with risk, but that said, it is possible to make a good living buying and selling shares and crypto through an established broker. Lots of homework researching strategies and markets; most traders start with a demo account and after a few months, they start trading with real money. Start by connecting with a leading Australian broker who has all the resources you need to get started.
  3. Digital marketing – If you have IT skills, there’s no reason you can’t get into the thriving SEO sector. Businesses have little choice but to invest in online marketing and like any industry, once you are competent, your salary will increase. You might be a web designer, or a writer that works on blogs, if you find the right agency, they offer full training to candidates that pass a screening.
  4. Online teaching – If you have teaching skills, contact online language academies with a view to teaching English online. Native English speakers don’t need qualifications, as long as you pass their online exams, you are good to go. Many Australians use this to supplement their income, you work the hours you want and are paid through PayPal every month.
  5. Become a YouTuber – If you have an outgoing personality, why not create your own YT channel? It might take a few months (or longer) to reach 1000 subs, then your channel is monetised. You could set up a podcast studio and Zoom interview interesting people, which can bring in a lot of money if you get high views. Success is never assured, it all depends on your content and your editing skills. That said, hard work can put you in a very good position financially.

Being a DN allows you to work while travelling the world; simply register with the Australian government as self-employed and you are good to go! Why not spend 3 months on Bali, then head off to Southern Thailand where you can live in a tropical paradise?
