YouTube vlogger Michelle “ATLien” Brown has reported that Tasha K and her family have moved from Georgia to Florida amid her ongoing legal struggles with rapper Cardi B.
Earlier this year, Tasha K lost her appeal to overturn the $4 million defamation verdict issued against her in favor of Cardi B. As we previously reported, Tasha admitted that she couldn’t pay the $4 million judgment, which was ordered after the rapper won her defamation case against Tasha. Furthermore, Tasha was required to remove all videos on her YouTube channel that contained derogatory content about Cardi B.
Tasha, whose full name is Latasha Kebe, filed an appeal with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. However, last month, the court dismissed the appeal due to jurisdictional issues, according to SandraRose.com. This ruling allows Cardi B’s legal team to begin taking steps to garnish Tasha’s wages and seize personal property, including her home, vehicles, furniture, and financial assets, to recover the owed debt.
In response to this, Tasha re-filed an appeal with the U.S. Court of Appeals in Georgia on August 4, as reported by ATLien.
As her legal troubles continue, Tasha and her family have reportedly vacated their home in Lawrenceville, Georgia, and relocated to Florida. Her Lawrenceville property, which includes 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, was listed for rent on July 3.
According to SandraRose, Florida is considered a safe haven for those facing significant financial judgments. The state has laws that make it challenging for creditors to collect on large debts, especially through its homestead exemption, which protects a debtor’s primary residence from becoming subject to a lien.
This move to Florida follows Tasha’s vocal criticism of what she calls “the machine” and “corporate interests” after losing her case in January. In federal court, Tasha and her company, Kebe Studios LLC, were found liable on three separate counts, including defamation, invasion of privacy due to false portrayal, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. The court awarded Cardi B $1 million in damages for the pain and suffering caused by reputational harm, along with an additional $3.8 million in damages.
Tasha K legal issues began when she made public claims about Cardi B, alleging that the rapper had a sexually transmitted disease, engaged in explicit stage performances with bottles, and was involved in drug use, as reported by Hot New Hip Hop.
After the court’s decision in January, Tasha addressed her followers in a YouTube video, reflecting on the four years of legal battles. She stated, “The verdict handed down on Monday was no shock to me, my husband, or my legal team. We’ve been fighting this conspiracy case, and the challenges have been immense.”
She continued, “We stood our ground against a powerful system that sought to intimidate me for not compromising my beliefs. It’s a system that defends corporate interests, promotes harmful behaviors like drug use, promiscuity, and violence, and glorifies them in our society.”
Tasha’s move to Florida marks a new chapter as she continues to navigate the fallout from this highly publicized legal battle.
