Best Heat Pump Services

Spring can be a fickle season, especially amid climate change. Some days, the temperature quickly drops, and you’d swear winter hasn’t ended. Other days are warm, and you think that summer is around the corner.

Heat pumps have become extremely popular in Canada for their ability to efficiently regulate indoor temperatures, no matter what it’s like outside. Despite being called “heat pumps,” thankfully, they work in reverse, too, keeping your home at a comfortable, cool temperature all spring when it gets warm outside.

Please read on to learn more about how heat pumps work, no matter the weather.

Applied Thermodynamics for Heating

Heat pumps are extremely efficient because they work along the same lines as an air conditioner, but they have a reverse valve, so they can both cool and heat your home. The principle is the same, even if the process is reversed.

Heat pumps blow (or “pump”) the hot air from outside or the ground over the heat exchange surface part of the heat pump. This heat warms the refrigerant liquid in the heat pump, so it turns into a gas.

The gas moves through a compressor, increasing its pressure and, therefore, its temperature. The hotter gas then passes over the internal heat exchange surface, where it either blows into the home’s interior or into a central heating or hot water system.

Once the heat disperses, the gas cools down again, so the cycle can repeat until the temperature reaches the number on the thermostat.

Cooling is Just as Easy

On those unseasonably warm spring days, you can launch the same process but in the other direction. Heat pumps can extract energy from a source, in this case, your home, to reduce its temperature. Just as with an air conditioner or refrigerator, removing thermal energy cools the space.

Environmentally Friendly

Heat pumps keep your home at a comfortable temperature while using much less energy than older, obsolete forms of heating and cooling. Their efficiency helps reduce your carbon footprint.

Of course, it also helps to have modern, energy-efficient windows that keep cool winter air and warm spring temperatures out so the indoors remain comfortable.

What to Look for in a Repair Expert

The most efficient heating and cooling system in the world won’t effectively work if there’s something wrong with the equipment. To ensure the heat pump is in good working order, call the leading air conditioner service in Mississauga and the GTA.

Their business should be a couple of decades old and positively reviewed online, so you know they’re reliable. It’s even better if they offer 24/7 emergency services, a lowest price guarantee, and can repair every furnace brand.

Often, heat pumps work in tandem with another system, known as a hybrid. The HVAC experts you hire should be able to fix these systems, too.

Homes need to be comfortable to feel like home. Keeping temperatures comfortable with less energy is an excellent way to lower your carbon footprint and hydro bill, so there’s really no downside to using a heat pump. Whether the springtime is unseasonably warm or cool, a heat pump will regulate your home’s temperature and keep you comfortable.
