The skin is the body’s largest organ and it is constantly changing. Humans tend to shed their skin once per month. This process happens gradually, with skin cells constantly shedding and growing. To accomplish this consistent change, your skin needs plenty of help and energy, and some types of skin need more help than others. Whether you are struggling with skin problems or simply want to give your skin some extra help, here are a few vitamins that should be part of your skin care routine:

Vitamin C:

Vitamins C

This incredible vitamin is best known for its ability to boost the immune system. However, Vitamin C is also a powerful anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory agent. When applied to skin topically, serum Vitamin C protects the skin from solar and environmental damage while also soothing irritation. Another benefit of Vitamin C is its ability to fight hyper pigmentation, or sun spots.

Vitamin E:

Vitamins E

The best face creams for dry skin always contain Vitamin E as a moisturizing agent. A powerful, fat soluble vitamin, Vitamin E is also great at revitalizing dry skin by encouraging its natural oil production.

Vitamin D:

Vitamins D

With the right amount of sun exposure, the skin will naturally produce this important vitamin. However, adults, particularly who live in Northern climates and spend most of their time indoors, may need to take additional Vitamin D. A lack of Vitamin D can affect the body’s ability to fight infections and aggravate acne.

Vitamin K:

Vitamins K

This vitamin is particularly important for healing wounds and bruises. A deficiency in Vitamin K can lead to dark circles, spider veins and scarring from wounds. This vitamin can be found in some skin care products, but can also be obtained from eating healthy foods like kale. Your skin does a lot of work. Eating vitamin rich foods, drinking plenty of water and having a good skin care routine can help keep it healthy.
