At the 2013 New York Auto Show, Cadillac announced the third generation of their popular CTS mid-size sedan lineup. This is the all-new 2014 model of the lineup and is a fresh and good addition to the segment of mid-size luxury and performance-oriented sedans. The new 2014 Cadillac CTS is based on the similar high performance and rear-wheel-drive platform of the award-winning sports sedan ATS. This is the lightest most car of the segment and no doubt is offering an agile riding and performance. The car comes with a range of some outstanding powertrains improving the speed and performance the car has.
The 2014 Cadillac CTS features 18-inch aluminum wheels, a wider front grille, stylish and attractive headlamps, a lower roofline, LED detailing, and an addition of 5 inches to its length. Similar to the exterior of the car, the interior of the new CTS is also really fascinating and is offering you a total of eight unique and admiring styling environments that will be a blend of genuine wood, aluminum or carbon fiber an integrated and configurable 12.3 inches wide LCD display, Cadillac’s CUE infotainment system, electronic safety features and for the first time, Cadillac adds automatic parking assist functionality. Other features of this luxurious car include a quicker steering ratio, heavy-duty track cooling package, Brembo disk brakes paired with high-performance brake pads, and aluminum calipers. The car also offers a driver-selectable track mode to enjoy greater track performance that is paired with magnetic ride control calibration and a particular steering rate.
The new 2014 Cadillac CTS is equipped with either a Twin-Turbo 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces 321 horsepower and is mated with a new paddle-shift eight-speed automatic transmission box or a Turbocharged 2.0-liter engine that makes 272 horsepower and is mated with a six-speed automatic transmission box. Remember, the eight-speed automatic transmission is only offered for rear-wheel-drive models whereas the all-wheel-drive models are mated with six-speed automatic transmission. The models that are mated with the paddle-shift eight-speed automatic are 15% more fuel-efficient than the six-speed automatic.
The CTS technology range includes Cadillac’s first 20-way adjustable front seats, heated steering wheel and heated and cooled front seats, electronic park brake, motorized cup holder lid in the central console, electronically locking glove box, adaptive remote start feature that is also able to control climate control and the car comes standard with Bose eleven speaker sound system.
The car is also equipped with high-performance safety features including automatic parking assist, front and rear automatic braking, short-range radar technology, forward collision alert, lane departure alert, rear vision camera with dynamic guidelines, side blind zone alert, panic brake assist, adaptive forward lighting, and active pedestrian protection system. The new 2014 CTS is also equipped with 10 airbags and an estimated fuel economy of 18mpg city and 28mpg highway. Overall the car is a good addition to the segment and is expected to meet the expectations of car lovers.
